Abstract
Recent evidence suggests multimodal interactions affect biological motion processing (Brooks et al 2007). More specifically, it appears auditory cues affect visual sensitivity. The range of conditions under which such interactions arise remains however largely untested. The aim of the current study was to further explore that range: Using different indexes of visual sensitivity and multiple biological ‘actions’, effects of auditory cues on visual biological motion sensitivity were probed. Our data suggest the conditions described by Brooks et al (2007) reflect only one of multiple sets under which audiovisual biological motion interactions are observed. Implications for models of biological motion processing are discussed.
